Jason Lacey and his team (Brittany Miller and Katie Bartels) as well as Veterans United's underwriters and closer (Kenzie Ausfahl, if I'm not mistaken) were truly phenomenal in every way. They made the entire process as efficient as it possibly could be. They were rock solid throughout - zero issues - and even were so kind as to repeatedly engage appropriately and effectively to clean up issues created by others in an absolutely horrendous closing overall due to our realtors (not sourced through Veterans United's program that will offer realtor referrals and a slightly lower interest rate, which was a big mistake on our part in hindsight), settlement agent, home inspector and sellers. Jason is in the top 1% of people I have worked with in my life - his competence as a loan officer is as good as it gets, but his character and true desire to help and advise for his client's benefit was what really set him apart. He was willing and able to do whatever it took to advance the process. Jason was politely and professionally relentless in providing everything from the expertise and resources to optimize our interest rate to working hard with entities outside Veterans United to mitigate issues they created. We had the opportunity to work with a lender whose cost structure to close a VA loan and interest rate would have been lower than Veterans United (although we also found a lot more lenders who would have cost us more to close than Veterans United and couldn't offer the interest rates of Veterans United) and thank goodness we choose Veterans United and ended up with Jason and his team - I would encourage home buyers to consider the overall value proposition when choosing the lender with whom they partner rather than simply the costs, as lenders are not a commodity especially for those buyers using the VA loan given its unique requirements and features (Jason and Veterans United proved their mettle as the industry's experts on VA loans). Given the troubling issues created by others in our closing process, I have no doubt that our home purchase simply isn't closed if Jason and his team and Veterans United's closer aren't our lenders and we can't thank Jason, Brittany, Katie, Kenzie and everyone else at Veterans United enough for getting us through this ugly transaction!
Kelly Stephen's was excellent to work with. He provided me with timely updates, responsive to my inquiries, and very professional.
Marlon Galbreath and his entire team were outstanding. This was my first time buying a home, and they made what I thought would be a lengthy or stressful process feel very easy and comfortable. They operate with the utmost professionalism and care for the customers. They were immediately available to provide accurate answers to all of my questions. I will personally reach out to Marlon for future purchases and would highly recommend him to friends and family. Please feel free to contact me with any other questions about my experience with VU.
After schedulingb a closing day Veterans United informed me that they didn't know that i was closing on that day and cost me a days vacation with even an apology
Response from Veterans United
Hi Luke,
I’m really sorry for the frustration this caused. Taking a day off work for a scheduled closing is a big deal, and we should have been aligned and communicated better. I also regret that you didn’t receive an apology at the time.
If you’re open to it, our Client Advocate team would appreciate the chance to look into what happened. You can reach us at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. We’re available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST.
Sincerely,
Claire S., Client Relations Manager
Great support

Jumping through hoops is expected with a VA loan, but I wish the communication was a little better so we could have provided necessary documentation sooner. The delay in closing from this was frustrating. Most of my team was excellent but there was one person that hadn’t called at all and did not email as often as I was expecting. We still have yet to have a single phone conversation with her. The rest of the team was diligent and helped us a lot though.
I lived in a different state than I was would be purchasing. With all the things that had to be done, this team enabled me to accomplish it with ease. I would definitely recommend to anyone interested to have this at their disposal.
Ryan, Annie, Adam, and Maria were great. Anytime I had a question they were quick to answer. They made this process easy and less stressful. I appreciated how they remembered things I said and sent a personable gift right before closing. I also enjoyed laughing every time Annie and I were able to speak things happening into existence just by one of us asking if we could get a hold of someone. A+ team. Would definitely recommend them.
Made the process extremely easy and streamlined. Extra shoutout to Kimmy and Colbey since it doesn’t give me the option to review them as well!

Bobby, Gavin, Lynette and the entire team at Veterans United were a thrill to work with! They handled all of my questions, even the silly and late night questions, with expert guidance and care for me as a Veteran looking for his first home. They were all there every step of the way and made sure to assist me with finding me and my wife's dream home! I could of not asked for a better team at my side during this journey! I would recommend them for any Veteran looking for their own dream home 10 out of 10 times! Thank you so much Bobby, Gavin, Lynette and the whole Veterans United team!
Matt Torres was great and easy to communicate with
